POEM: Untitled.

She said she’d die with a poem on her lips,
She also said that poem would be a prayer,
But, see the thing is,
She’s an atheist
So a prayer to whom?

She said she’d need not lift it up,
That lingering on her lips
It would serve its purpose
But what purpose?

She said, “that I may applaud my own
“depth of existence–
“and go to death
“like how a child walks into a room
“and forgets what it is it wanted…”

She also said, “I’ll forget what I wanted of death
“because ultimately, life is a dream
“front which death wakes but
“only once,
“but once is more than enough,
“for a life such as mine.”
